Do NOT be overly impressed with a lawyer’s membership in legal organizations or praise from fellow lawyers. The old-boy network is alive and well. If a lawyer is one of the gang, good things will be said and heaps of praise will come that lawyer’s way. If the lawyer is a bit of a renegade, or as they say in Spanish, ” el solo lobo” ( the lone wolf), that lawyer is not likely to be a favorite of the local bar association. Want to guess where this guy fits in?
I, too, have many legal connections and friendships; however, I have never spent time or energy seeking applause, praise, or approval from other lawyers, particularly my competitors.
Exchanging war stories about my cases and clients with other lawyers at fancy cock-tail parties has never been my idea of a good time. I don’t go, never have, and never will.
I am a member of The Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership is limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience, and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of one million dollars or more. That’s what the organization says any way.
And it’s true there are only a few other injury lawyers in this state who are members of The Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Sounds good I know, but that does not tell the full story.
The results of any case depend not only on the lawyer’s skill, but also on the merits of the case. Any squirrel can find a nut once in a while. It can be hard to know if the result was exceptional, adequate or poor, or even if the lawyer was really that instrumental in obtaining the result.
However, I have been consistently delivering exceptional results to my clients, and know how to handle large, big money cases.
We at Donahue Law are based in Keene,N.H., but do injury cases all over New Hampshire, and have connections across the country.
Keep your strength.
