Get an insurance check-up

If you have an insurance agent make sure you get a yearly physical. It is important to go over all your coverages to make sure everything is in order.

Don’t be afraid to shop around if you don’t like your quoted premiums. Insurance is pretty competitive these days, and there’s bound to be a company who’d love to do business with you

There are lots of good insurance agents. Find one who will take some time to go over, and review, your needs. Circumstances change, and it’s important to make sure you have appropriate coverages– be it auto, home or life insurance coverage.

My website has a section dedicated to an ” insurance check- up” which gives helpful information. Check it out.

If you go without an agent, just be careful to make sure you’ve covered all the bases.

Don’t just go with the cheapest company. Price is always important, but sometimes it is better to pay a little more and get good, professional service and advice.

If your child is away at college, and has his or her own auto, keep in mind that insurance laws and coverages differ from state to state. My oldest son goes to college in Texas and has an insurance agent in San Antonio. My daughter who lives in California took my advice and bought an umbrella policy, but unlike NH, it does not contain uninsured motorist coverage.

In some states ( like Texas) the owner of a vehicle is automatically responsible for the negligence of the driver. That is not the case in New Hampshire. This is good to know if your child is driving your vehicle out of state.

As an injury lawyer in practice for 26 years, I’ve seen more than my fair share of needless suffering, and many cases where the parties simply didn’t have adequate insurance coverage.

Please take the time to get it right. And, remember you are the consumer. Make sure your insurance company treats you right, and if they don’t, take your business somewhere else.

Donahue Law is based in Keene, NH., but we handle cases all over the State of New Hampshire, and, with connections, cases across the country.

I’d be honored to help you.
