In a few weeks, Keene’s American Legion, Post 4, will be hosting the 34th Karl “Gubby” Underwood baseball tournament, and I was named this year’s Chairman.
It’s a real good thing the ladies at my office are doing such a good job with all the administrative and organizational work! I have an excellent crew, and Lisa, Deb and Denise deserve a lot of credit helping to put it together.
I’m proud of my office staff, and they are very good at their jobs. That makes my life quite a bit easier, believe me. Most importantly, they are very client-oriented, and the clients love working with them. This is a people-business. We deal with people in crisis. Compassion goes a long way in my line of work.
Getting back to baseball, the tournament is named for the late ” Gubby” Underwood, a longtime friend and supporter of baseball in Keene, N.H. It is the longest running American Legion baseball tournament in the country. Over the years it has featured players who’ve gone on to play ball in college, and a number who’ve made it to the professional ranks
If you enjoy good baseball, take in a game or two and be sure to say “hello.”
Keep your strength.
